If you would like to pay with professional development funds, please contact me and I’d be happy to set it up. If you’d like to come to an event without paying, I’d be happy to have you as well - just contact me.
Hi everyone! I’m really excited to share a new component of Beyond the Scope with you. Over the past year, this newsletter has been my way of thinking out loud about some of the more complex topics in higher ed teaching and learning, especially those that relate to neurodiversity and accessibility. It’s been wonderful connecting with so many of you through these ideas. Now, I want to offer something a bit more personal and interactive - opportunities to work with me directly as part of a subscription.
After about eight years working as a faculty developer, leading workshops, designing courses, and most recently supporting instructors and institutions around neurodiversity and accessibility, I’ve learned that support is needed at large and small scales, including in small groups and one-on-one formats. This subscription, Beyond the Scope Circle, is a way to bring that support directly to you, whether you’re an instructor, staff member, administrator, or grad student looking for ongoing guidance and community.
Subscribers will get three main offerings each month:
A live discussion on Zoom, where we’ll explore important topics, share challenges, and learn from each other. These sessions will include guest speakers, subscriber suggested topics, or explorations of emerging issues (recorded for those who can’t make it live).
An “Ask Me Anything” thread, where you can post your questions and I’ll answer them in writing over the course of a week. It’s a chance to get advice tailored to your teaching challenges.
Open office hours on Zoom, from 12pm to 2pm on the third Thursday of each month, where you can drop in for a chat, quick questions, or to get pointers and resources. Think of this like an ad-hoc teaching, advising, or facilitation consultation.
I want this to be a supportive space where you feel seen and heard, and where the complicated realities of teaching with neurodiversity and accessibility in mind are front and center.
The subscription costs $10 per month or $100 per year. This is both an opportunity to take advantage of these monthly offerings, and to support my work more generally. If you have access to professional development funds at your institution, I’m happy to work with you to facilitate payment - just let me know and we can set it up. If you’d rather not join, you’ll still get 1-2 Beyond the Scope posts in your inbox each month - as always I so appreciate you reading and engaging with my writing!
Thanks so much for being part of this journey with me!
